Your books stay saved: 6 months on Free, permanently on paid plans

A book a child helped make is worth keeping. Here is how long StoryMint now keeps finished books on each plan, and where to find them.

Eight book covers on a shelf in two rows: a hedgehog, six dinosaurs, a girl with a glowing comet, a fox and a rabbit in sunflowers, a watercolor robot, friends on a beach, an otter explorer and an astronaut
Covers of books made by the StoryMint team.

A book your child helped make is worth keeping. A bedtime story with the dog's name in it, a coloring book from a birthday, a comic about the first day of school: you'll want to open them again. So we changed how long StoryMint keeps your finished books.

On the Free plan: 6 months

Books you make on the Free plan are now saved in the cloud for 6 months. Open My books any time to read a book again or show it to someone.

On paid plans: saved permanently

On Plus, Max and Schools & Organizations, your books go into your cloud library and are saved permanently, until you delete them. A whole year of bedtime stories, a class project from last spring, every book in a series: they stay on your shelf.

What gets saved

The finished book is saved: its pages and its cover, so you can open it and read it again. When you want a PDF to print or keep on your own computer, choose an eligible paid plan or book credit.

Good habits for keepsakes

  • Download the PDF of the books you love, when your plan includes it. A copy on your own computer is always there.
  • Print the special ones. A printed book on a low shelf is easy for little hands to reach.
  • Give your books clear titles. It makes a long shelf in My books easier to browse.

If you delete your account

Deleting your account deletes your books too, on every plan. If you're leaving, download the PDFs you want to keep first.
